Director of Business Development

Sue Wakamoto-Lee, CEBS

Sue is a past president of the California Agents & Health Insurance Professionals, formerly known as CAHU, and is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, or CEBS (Wharton School of Business).

Sue has been in the employee benefits industry almost her entire career, starting in defined benefit pension plan administration while working part-time while a student at UCLA.  In the last few decades, she has been an alum of big houses like Gallagher and Mercer, worked at boutique agencies that specialized in P&C, completed a few tours at tech start-ups and survived a stint at industry disruptor, Zenefits.  She even managed to spend a decade as a stay-at-home mom when her son was young before craving more adult interaction and mental stimulation.

More specifically, Sue has a very impressive benefits business development and consulting background.  Her former positions include former Sales Manager at Claremont Insurance Services, and Senior Carrier Relations Manager for Limelight Health. In agency broker production and business development, Sue’s prior work history includes  Vice President, Employee Benefits for One Risk Group, Benefits Producer/Consultant for Herzog Insurance Agency, and Producer/Consultant/Business Development for Leavitt Group and Mercer Health & Benefits.

Sue is excited to be working as a broker and benefits consultant again, helping employers directly, and is happy to be back in UCLA territory after living more than 25 years in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She is married to Bryan, who was her brother’s best man, and has a son and daughter-in-law who live in Anchorage, Alaska, where her daughter-in-law is active-duty Air Force.  She also has a daughter attending Baylor University in Waco, TX.  The kids still at home are her dogs, Stevie and Scooter.  She is active in her church, serving on the worship team and participating in a weekly women’s Bible study. Sue also serves on the board of Ellevate Foundation whose mission is to foster leadership by providing tools, resources, and events for both existing and aspiring female leaders.
