Students in this session can expect to learn the following from this session:

- What enforcement agencies are involved (state and federal)
- A general overview of how enforcement activities work, through audits, policies and enforcement
- The differences between civil and criminal penalties
- What investigators look at to enforce the laws, including breach reporting, types of breaches, compliant system, resolution agreements, corrective action plans
- Recent Enforcement actions and cases reported
Completion Requirements
Students are required to watch the entire video lesson or lessons. Students will have 90 minutes to complete the test with a 70% score (complete 7 of 10 correct answers), and students will be given 3 opportunities to take and pass the online test. Courses are available for 60 days from the time of enrollment / purchase. After expiration students can no longer access the course.
Privacy Session 2 – Enforcement Summary
This course has been pre-approved by the California Department of Insurance for 1 hour of Life/Accident/Health CE credit. Course Number 386275. You will receive a certificate of completion with the CE course number after you complete the course and successfully pass the test with a 70% or greater score. You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam (10 questions with 7 correct answers). You will be given 2 additional opportunities to pass the test if needed. CE credit will be submitted to the CA Department of Insurance upon completion by Advanced Benefit Consulting, the CE provider. This session provides employers, providers and insurance industry representatives with a brief overview of the enforcement side of HIPAA Privacy & Security laws and regulations. The instructors will discuss the laws that apply, and how they are enforced, the agencies involved, and how the enforcement process works to close cases.
